Youth Research Collaborative

Ever wanted to learn what it's like to conduct a research study? 

Researchers at the University of Pittsburgh are partnering with Pittsburgh community organizations and local young people who identify as Black, Latinx, queer, and/or rural-living to be a part of a youth research collaborative for a new study about social media and loneliness.   

You may be eligible to apply if you:

- Are between the ages 13-21 

- Identify as Black, Latinx, POC, queer, and/or someone who lives in a rural area 

- Have at least one active social media account (“active” means an account that is at least three months old and is used at least once a week) 

- Speak proficient English 

What you'd be doing:

- Members of the collaborative will meet bi-weekly for 12 months (about a year) in-person (virtual can be made available in special circumstances) 

- Work alongside Pitt researchers to look at anonymous social media posts created by other young people across the country. Share your interpretations of loneliness and isolation signs with the researchers. 

- Collaborators may receive up to $1,800 (or $75 for every session attended).
